Result:  in the first eight games of 1946, Ted Williams went 3 for 25 (.120) with 10 walks.  Pretty close, especially for a story from that long ago, when the story often mattered more than the facts.  

For the full season, .188/.398/.376 over 22 games against the Yankees, with 10 RBI.   Still, he scored 18 runs, and the Red Sox won 14 of the games.
