Saturday Evening Post

In what's turning into a tradition, today I baked M&M's cookies in the early afternoon and made a pepperoni pizza for supper.  Following the instructions from "Three Chips for Sister Marsha," I changed the ratio of white sugar to brown sugar from 1:5 (50 grams: 250 grams) to 1:1 (150 grams of each).  Result, a dryer, crispier cookie.

Before, during, and after, I watched Libeled Lady and an episode of Blott on the Landscape (DailyMotion only, not available on YouTube) and BB watched a season 1 episode of New Tricks.

Something I often don't resist is determining the date a photo was taken.  The one below was taken at Cincinnati's Crosley Field before game 1 of a doubleheader with St. Louis, August 11, 1946.

I couldn't do it without baseball-reference.com, which has the details behind everything referenced on the left-center field scoreboard.  The part about the Giants game scheduled for Tuesday, August 20, made the rest of it simple.

During the 1960's, the businesses beyond the outfield walls were torn down, and in 1970 the Reds left Crosley Field for Riverfront Stadium.  Soon after, the ballpark was razed to make way for part of Interstate 75.  Somewhere out there is a picture of Crosley with I-75 overlaid on it.

And here's your first look at visitor cat Blott.  Kit Charlemagne is getting a good look at him through the back door.  What you don't see is Kit's mother, the little black pooshka, hunched over on the chair in front of Blott.
